Terms of Service

Terms of Service

Effective date: August 6, 2026

Welcome to Faith Journey. These terms are an agreement between you and Shannon Formby (“we,” “us”) covering your use of the Faith Journey app. By using the app, you agree to them.

1. What Faith Journey is

Faith Journey is a private space for small circles to pray, reflect, and encourage one another. It is a tool for community and spiritual practice — it is not a counseling, medical, or emergency service.

If you are in crisis or someone is in danger, call 911, or call or text 988 (the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline). The app’s Guided Prayer feature will point you to 988 if it detects crisis language, but it is not a substitute for professional help.

2. Your account

The app uses anonymous device-based sign-in, with an option to sign in with Apple so your account survives a new phone or reinstall. You’re responsible for the device you use with Faith Journey. Choose an honest display name — your circle should know who you are.

You must be at least 13 years old to use Faith Journey.

3. Your content

You own what you write. By posting content in the app, you give us the limited license needed to store it, display it to the people you’ve chosen to share it with, and operate features like reminders, notifications, and “On This Day” memories. We claim no other rights to your prayers, journal entries, or messages.

You’re responsible for what you post.

4. Community standards — zero tolerance for objectionable content

Faith Journey exists so people can be honest about hard things and be met with love. Protecting that requires a firm line. There is zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behavior on Faith Journey.

You agree not to post, send, or share content that:

  • harasses, bullies, threatens, or intimidates any person;
  • expresses hatred toward or demeans a person or group on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, or age, including the use of slurs;
  • is sexually explicit or pornographic, or sexualizes a minor in any way;
  • promotes or encourages self-harm, suicide, violence, or illegal activity;
  • is unlawful, defamatory, or fraudulent;
  • shares another person’s private information without their consent;
  • infringes anyone’s intellectual property; or
  • is spam, advertising, or solicitation.

Being open about your own struggles — including addiction, abuse you have suffered, sexual sin, depression, or suicidal thoughts — is welcome and is precisely what Faith Journey is for. This section prohibits content that attacks or degrades other people, not honest confession or a request for prayer.

Enforcement. Every member can report content from the ⋯ menu on any post and can block any member at any time. We review reports within 24 hours. Content that violates these standards is removed, and accounts responsible for violations may be suspended or permanently terminated without notice and without refund. Repeat or egregious violations — and any content that sexualizes a minor — result in immediate, permanent removal and may be reported to law enforcement.

The app also automatically screens posts for slurs, explicit sexual content, and threatening language before they are published.

By using Faith Journey you agree to these standards. You must accept them in the app before you can post.

5. Circles and leaders

Anyone can create a circle and invite others with an invite code. Circle creators (and co-leaders they appoint) have access to leadership tools, including activity signals about their circle’s members, the ability to set a weekly prayer focus, memory verse, and daily questions, and the ability to remove members. Being a leader is a role of care — use it that way.

Leaders cannot see anyone’s private prayers or private journal entries.

6. The Guided Prayer companion

Guided Prayer uses artificial intelligence to help you put a prayer into words. AI-generated text can be imperfect. It is offered as a devotional aid, not as pastoral counsel, doctrine, or professional advice of any kind.

7. Scripture

Scripture quotations are from the New American Standard Bible® (NASB), used by permission of The Lockman Foundation (www.lockman.org). Scripture text may not be extracted from the app for republication.

8. The service

Faith Journey is provided “as is.” We work hard to keep it available and your data safe, but we can’t promise uninterrupted service, and we may add, change, or remove features as the app grows. We may update these terms; meaningful changes will be noted in the app, and continued use means acceptance.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from use of the app, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the past twelve months (currently: nothing — the app is free during beta).

9. Ending your use

You can stop using Faith Journey at any time. You can permanently delete your account and content from inside the app — Members screen → “Delete my account” — or by contacting us (see the Privacy Policy). We may suspend or terminate access for violation of these terms.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Alabama, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
